Muffin Experiments: Sunny-Side Up Button Rings

    sunny-side up button rings

honestly, these are experiments. I saw some lovely buttons and the shopoholic in me kicked up an immense urge to buy them. then seeing that we all here, most of us at least, live in crammed units call HDBs, sensibilities told me that i had to do something worthy or they;ll accumulate like junk in the backends of my cupboard.
that was how these rings came about. and a spin-off called. muffin experiments.
these are attempts at new projects by the muffinhead. Being the first of its kind, glitches are bound to be expected, maybe an extra drop of glue here or a scratch there (but don't worry these glitches are all beneath the surface, always on the underside). But these sections always offers good deals.

Seen above, SUNNY-SIDE UP BUTTON RINGS

adorn at the asylum : Mould It With Your Hands- Polymer Clay Series

Mould-It-With-Your-Hands is my first attempt with polymer clay. Kind of similar to free plastic which was quite the craze few years back except that this doesn't melt in hot water and is more resistant. It's quite fun really. And the thought of being able to create your own bead, from scratch, is just exhilarating.
    baby love

Handmade. Each heart shaped bead is a marble of pink and purple polymerclay fused into one. As it’s handmade, pardon it, each bead has its own little quirk. Just like you and me. There’s only one piece for this item. Pink beads are glass beads, not plastic. On 50cm of bronze chain. As each piece is handmade, nuances like the length of the chain can either be lengthened or shortened.
    $23.

    trinity of love
Handmade. 3 hearts makes this trinity. Each bead’s red centre is enveloped by a vibrant blue. As it’s handmade, pardon it, each bead has its own little quirk. Just like you and me. There’s only one piece for this item. On 50 cm bronze chains. Bead is in gloss finish. As each piece is handmade, nuances like the length of the chain can either be lengthened or shortened.

    $23.

adorn at the asylum : Tell-it-like-it-is Series of Charm Rings

    feed the squirrel
Feed the poor squirrel. Mixed media. Glass red acorn, plastic hungry squirrel and a gold ring (adjustable). part of adorn's series of charm bracelets, tune in for more to come.

    S$16.

I know charms are the thing right now and the markets flooded with the likes with hundreds of blogs dedicated to selling it. As much as I love them, I can't bring myself to make another one of those charm things unless i find a bead so rare and vintage. So here's a twisted version to the charm craze, the charm ring. And each tells a little story. I find them endearing actually +)

adorn at the asylum: Phunk Generation

    call for symmetry

an almost symmetrical pair of earring dangles with coloured bubbles and beads. All are glass beads.

    $23. SOLD!

a little bit of symmetry. mixed media.

finally some almost symmetry, with a mixed media of materials, pairing bronze with silver. All are glass beads.

    S$16

phunk generation. offbeat defines the phunk generation. no symmetry, no consistency, no rules. not another one of those dangly charm things. this series uses colours and shapes to create that bit of difference.

adorn at the asylum: Scream Spring!

    Scream Spring

White lilies, pink petals and crimson red blooms, with translucents green leaves.. This adjustable bronze ring screams with a riot of spring colours. Flaunt it.
    S$36.
this is created out of weaving beads onto a metal plate, and the trick the fun part about creating this sort of rings is in hunting for the right beats and getting the colour mix duly in place. The beads in this piece are all glass beads. no plastics beads.

adorn at the asylum: Vintage Daze

    Retreat to Vintage

Fell in love with the beads first before I came up with the design for this necklace and wanted to do some justice to it. Inspiration came from the leaves that used to hang in front of hindi households. And colours put together to remind one of an idyllic vacation. Turquoise blue of a seaside beach retreat and the red of the setting sun. Turquoise blue vintage leaf beads and vibrant red droplets hang fixed on a 55cm bronze chain. First-born, first design of vintage leaf series.

    S$26.

    sweetness with an edge

From the vintage leaves series I love so much. Wanted to adorn these lovely pink beads for keepsake but didn't want over the top saccharine sweetness. The dash of zesty lime completes this vintage number, for sweetness with an edge. Lime green Czech glass beads and tiny white seashell beads add a vibrant touch to the baby pink vintage leaves. The beads are hung fixed a 50cm bronze chain. Second in line, second design of vintsge leaf series.

    S$26.SOLD!

adorn at the asylum - muffinlosophy
is a line of dress-it-up accessories from chains, necklaces, to earrings, belts and whats-nots. Each piece affectionately known at the muffin is created from the minds of the muffinhead and handmade with love & care. Each muffin is unique and you will find no other. Unless its the muffinhead's. Cos sometimes the muffinhead loves it so much, it creates one more for itself. So apart from you the power money-flinging mongel who's bought the piece so its rightly fully yours, the only other person with a similar piece will be the muffinhead. So if u find another in the street in a similar muffin garb. Beware! its a muffin copy. Not the real thing. Scorn. But the muffin accomodates. Nuances of the muffin like the length of the chain can either be lengthened or shortened.

    nostalgie,

when i was less grown up i would meddle with little beads and fishline getting a kick of stringng together a bunch of colours and shapes. Turning them into little pieces of adornment for the vain. There necklaces, earrings, crafted pens with your name on it. Those dragonflies made from chinese knots. The craft things a kid experiments with. And down in the neighbourhood was a kiosk that sold all the crafting knick-knacks, and this chance convenience fuelled my interest. I meddled in free plastic, friendship bands, beads, clay, watercolour, furniture painting and the school's sewing class. Then one day in a puff of smoke all this vanished.

The smoke that ate it all
I suspect, is the daily grind, the get a degree and make yourself useful mambo jambo that drones out the creativity. And no decent paperworker holes themselves up to work on wires and beads. That's . And everyone becomes replicas of the same mould and the society becomes monotonuos. The dearth of professional variety.

    Cookie-cutters
So the sedated bunny works to churn out more pieces of paper cutting down with a vengance the very origins of what gave us shelter to buy civilisation. Peace, progress and happiness. This great ideal and the promise of a juicy bottomline and fame has created a cookie-cutter to put everyone in its place. And they started building the cookie-cutter.

Help screams the cookie. Save me!
And super muffin comes to the rescue! To save you from the hone and drone of everyday living. Indulge in this muffin world.

    Alas, The Muffin Asylum.
Here, no ones a cookie. WE are all muffins, and each muffin is unique. Well, almost. Cos sometimes i like the piece so much, i make one for myself, so there are 2. And it ends. So apart from you the power money-flinging mongel who's bought the piece so its rightly fully yours, the only other person with a similar piece will be the muffinhead. So if u find another in the street in a similar muffin garb. Beware! its a muffin copy. Not the real thing. Scorn. It's a cookie.
